Food – The kitchen for all tastes
Traditional Dutch cuisine is simple and straightforward, with many vegetables and a little meat; breakfast and lunch are typically bread with toppings, while dinner is meat and potatoes, supplemented with seasonal vegetables. The Dutch are known for making cheeses that are very rich in flavor. The best known cheeses are Edam and Gouda.

Amsterdam offers many cultural attractions and is called the city of museums, where you can see everything from Van Gogh over Anne Frank to the Rembrandt Museum and the great masterpieces at the Rijksmuseum.

Rikj Museum in Amsterdam is the largest museum in the Netherlands and houses the works of all the great painters in the Netherlands, not least from the Golden Age. The museum has been open to the public since 1885. The collection contains paintings, ceramics, tiles and more from the 15th century.
Today Rembrandt's home in Amsterdam is a museum and now houses i.a. 260 of the 290 known sketches Rembrandt made. Rembrandt's own work is put into perspective by his students' works, which are also displayed at the museum. If you look in, you will find that works by Toulouse-Lautrec and Gauguin are also on display. The museum is divided into the five periods that also shared Van Gogh's life and work.
