Food – Experience Spain’s specialties

Spanish cuisine is based on that rum. and Arabic. kitchen and the raw materials of the new world. In ancient times, Spain exported olive oil, figs, wine and fish to Rome, and the Moors’ use of sour sauces, rice, sugar, almonds, grains, saffron, nutmeg and citrus fruits still characterize Spanish cuisine. From America came potatoes, beans, pumpkin, avocado, chili, corn, cocoa beans and tomatoes. Spanish chefs set in the 1400s and 1500s. the culinary agenda of the many European princess houses that were subject to the Spanish crown.

A lot of pork and mutton, poultry, rabbits and game are used. The latter reflects that only a small part of Spain has been cultivated. Beef and cow’s milk only play a role in the provinces of Asturias and Galicia. Across the country, large quantities of seafood are eaten, often in combination with meat such as paella.

Spanish cuisine is also known for its fabulous recipes for dishes like gazpacho and paella. Spanish food often offers fish, mushrooms and chorizo ??sausage – like tapas with a nice glass of red wine.

Attractions

Spain is the country in Europe with the most monuments on UNESCO’s World Heritage list and has a myriad of beautiful churches, palaces, castles and monuments. Park Güell in Barcelona. Barcelona has a myriad of museums and monuments that entice the visitor, including Antoni Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, Casa Batlló and La Pedrera. As the name suggests, the Puerta del Sol was originally the site of a city gate that surrounded Madrid (in the 14th century). It is officially the center of Spain – all main roads in the Spanish road system are measured at a distance from this square.

The Plaza Mayor is a stone’s throw from the Puerta del Sol and is one of Madrid’s largest squares. The site is a popular one.
Spain has some of the world’s best museums. The “Museum Triangle” in Madrid, which is made up of Prado, Reina Sofía and Thyssen, is unique and covers most of modern art history. In Valencia you will find the fantastic museum complex: the Museo de las Ciencias, and in Bilbao you will find the incomparable Guggenheim museum.

Catillo de Santa Bárbara is a large medieval castle and fortress, located on Mount Benacantil just north of the city. It is one of the biggest sights in Alicante, and here you will find everything you associate with a fort: cannons, a palace, dungeons, a moat, the ruins of a small church and of course a lookout tower. From the castle you can enjoy a fabulous view of Alicante and the Mediterranean

Beaches in Spain

Spain is known for its many beautiful beaches, and the beaches of the Costa Brava, the Balearic Islands (Formentera, Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza) are often included when choosing the world’s best beaches. Note also that the metropolitan city of Barcelona can mix with quite a fine stretch of coastline, and that Barcelona’s Barceloneta has been voted Europe’s best metropolitan beach.

Spain has almost 5000 km of coastline with lots of beautiful beaches on the Mediterranean in the south and on the Atlantic in the north and west. Along the Spanish coasts and the many Spanish islands you can choose and venture among stunning beaches, whether you are looking for isolated and unspoiled bays or urban areas with all the comforts. You will find Spanish beaches for all tastes. Historically, most tourists have preferred the beaches along the Costa del Sol and the Costa Blanca. Although you will find amazing beaches along these coastlines, you should also visit some of the other amazing beaches found elsewhere in Spain.
